This Pride Month, the Philippines is introducing a fresh addition to its BL series lineup with the upcoming show, ‘Marahuyo Project.’
Announced on Saturday, June 8, ‘Marahuyo Project’ is set to be a celebration of “queer friendship and a coming-of-age journey of self-discovery and identity.” The series will star musical actor Adrian Lindayag and newcomer Neo France Garcia.
Produced by Anima Studios (formerly Globe Studios), ‘Marahuyo Project’ joins a portfolio that includes other notable queer films and series such as the pandemic hit BL show ‘Gaya Sa Pelikula,’ the sapphic sports romance ‘Rookie,’ and the trans-comedy-thriller ‘Marupok AF.’
The studio also released a teaser poster showing Garcia and Lindayag smiling warmly at each other, capturing a moment of connection and charm.
The term “Marahuyo” is an old Tagalog word meaning “to be attracted or enchanted.”
This series marks Garcia’s debut as a lead actor. Lindayag is already familiar with queer roles, having starred in the BL film ‘The Boy Foretold By The Stars’ and its sequel series ‘Love Beneath The Stars’ with Keann Johnson, as well as the lesbian film ‘Becky and Badette.’
The cast also features Ryle Paolo Santiago, Nour Hooshmand, Yani Villarosa (known online as yanihatesu), Tommy Alejandrino, AJ Sison, Ian Villa, and many other talented actors.
Critically-acclaimed filmmaker JP Habac directed this project, which began filming in 2022.
